Don’t let the image above mislead you, we’re not talking about physical tools here 😉 Any digital tool that can make your life easier is a win! Think about Chrome extensions, a piece of software to run on you pc, anything other than a plugin or app, which both are basically tools as well.

Chrome Extensions
I have mentioned here and there that I’m straightforward and honest: I only recently got into creating chrome extensions. This is because I had a specific goal in mind that I could realize by creating a Chrome extension. It was a very basic idea that I managed to build in one weekend: an easy way to log time on my Gitlab issues.
Maybe you’ve ran into certain repeated actions that you think should be easier and could be solved by having an icon in your browser that gives you access to the functionality you require.

A tool can be for anything!
Really! A great example for the simplest and most geeky tool I’ve ever build: an Excel sheet that allowed me to keep track of resource production in a game I was playing and gave me a clear overview of what my next moves should be. If I wouldn’t have decided to stop playing that game, I would have turned it into a full application to automate a bunch of the repeated actions I had to do in the Excel sheet.
That’s how you can think about any repeated action you can automate. Write down everything you do in a day and look at the actions you could automate with a tool or an app. Got something? Let’s talk!
